We have a few global functions, supporting all regions, to leverage size, expertise and best practices. Among those functions stand Global R&D and Procurement.

R&D and Procurement work hand in hand on many initiatives to create strong competitive advantages for pladis, at global and regional level, including:

  • Product Innovation
  • Sustainability (i.e. environmentfriendly initiatives)
  • Productivity, through product reformulation


Specifically on packaging, we need to develop further our expertise with the aim of generating extra productivity and implementing a strong roadmap on sustainable packaging.

The Global Packaging Expert will be dedicated to support the Global Packaging team (Procurement) as we build strong and mid-term Sourcing Strategies.


They will also interface with:

  • All regional R&D teams to ensure their full alignment
  • Suppliers to capture the best practices on the market and monitor project implementation


The position will report directly within R&D to the position of VP Global Innovation & Technology, and dotted-line to the Global Category Lead for Packaging, within Procurement.

It is expected that this position will spend roughly 75% of their time to drive Packaging productivity & expertise and 25% to develop (jointly with the Global Sustainability leader) and monitor the implementation of a strong Packaging sustainability roadmap.


The Global Packaging Expert's key responsibilities include:

EXPERTISE

  • Build and formalize a strong expertise around food packaging, through toolkits which can be shared with Regional R&D and Procurement teams
  • Train newcomers in the Packaging Category teams (Procurement) to ensure a minimum level of expertise as part of their onboarding
  • Participate in regular business reviews with our key Packaging suppliers (jointly with the Category lead) with the aim of capturing any new technological solution / progress.
  • Attend international fairs to scout the latest technical update.

PRODUCTIVITY

  • Contribute to the elaboration of the Category Sourcing Strategy with regards to Materials Productivity, developing a strong pipeline of reformulation / rationalization projects over a rolling 2 yearforward period.
  • Participate to regular productivity workshops with factories and also our suppliers to enrich our 2year pipeline
  • Monitor the technical implementation of this roadmap, support local R&D or factories when there is a gap of expertise to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Establish project guidelines for worldwide projects (i.e. materials to be tested, max. gauge reduction to be considered depending on the manufacturing technology / material type ) and share best practices between factories about the technical implementation of worldwide projects.
  • Design / Review the methodology to approve Packaging suppliers and materials (documentations, sampling and testing protocols, approval range, etc) across pladis to ensure consistency and performance.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

  • Contribute to the elaboration of the Packaging sustainability roadmap for pladis, jointly with the Global Sustainability Leader (Communications department)
  • Embed this roadmap within the Packaging Category Sourcing Strategies to ensure full implementation of those initiatives
  • Align regional R&D teams around our sustainability roadmap while monitoring progress in every regions.
  • Participate to regular sustainability workshops with our key suppliers to enrich our sustainability roadmap and follow the evolution of technologies and regulations across pladis geographies
  • Report to the leadership, jointly with the Packaging Category Lead, the progress made on our sustainable packaging roadmap.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Master's degree
