An exciting opportunity has arisen in Acute Medicine for a part time Patient Pathway administrator to join our team. This post offers flexible working with the option of fulfilling duties both on and off site.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to be responsible for maintaining databases for patient results, clinics and letters and ensuring they are reviewed in a timely manner.

The post holder will need fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology.


The role holder will work closely with the Specialty PA and Deputy Service Manager to help ensure local and national targets are met.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, caring for a population of 4.5million. Operating 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.

Medicine Division at NUH compromises of 11 specialties including the emergency department and major trauma centre with over 2,500 staff and a budget of over £180 million.


The Acute Medicine department at NUH is one of the busiest in the country with a 54 bedded admission unit.

You will be joining a highly motivated team which includes medics, nursing, admin, ACPs, Physician Associates and prescribing pharmacists. Acute Medicine department consists of the following clinical areas Level 1 unit, AMRA and B3. It also has a telephone advice and triage service and ED in-reach service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team worker with excellent administration and audio typing skills, good organisational and communication skills.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and remain calm under pressure. The ability to manage your time and prioritise your workload whilst remaining patient focused is essential.

Key job responsibilities include maintaining databases, audio typing, RTT, liaising with patients, external and internal staff.

The post holder will be expected to work to specific timescales and will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to the job.

Essential criteria

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent C or above must include English
  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience)
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Proven admin experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Experience in creating and maintaining admin systems and databases
Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS and experience using Medway PAS and Notis. Winscribe

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality, sensitivity and empathy in communication with patients

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
