Role Overview and Organisation
Payroll Assistant - Great Hours - Early Finish Friday - Supportive Team
Nigel Wright are working in partnership with a global organisation based in Washington to recruit a Payroll Assistant. This is a key role as part of the HR/Payroll function and will support all elements of Payroll.

The Role
The main duties and responsibilities of the Payroll Assistant will be:

  • Open and close the monthly payroll processing, ensuring monthly changes are actioned in the month of change.
  • Using the T&A system to ensure that all absence is processed in accordance with policy, focusing on ensuring that all sick pay is paid in accordance with individual entitlement.
  • Process the salary journal for multiple payrolls.
  • Responsible for ensuring all salaries are in line with Minimum wage and undertaking NMW audits across the payrolls.
  • Processing month end and RTI returns for pensioners and monthly payroll.
  • Responsibility for monthly payments & deductions such as first aider, uniform and cycle to work etc.
  • Responsible for the processing and reporting of overtime accrual.
  • Deal with employee salary and payroll queries.
  • Responsible for all reporting from payroll in line with HR and business requirements.
  • Chase managers for missing information where necessary.
  • Update all statutory payments as appropriate i.e. SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP.
  • Any other payroll duties as required by the business.
  • Process all new starters and leavers including first day induction of company benefits and holiday payments.
  • Super user / Trainer for the time and attendance system maintaining shift patterns, absence codes, creating accounts, training line manager, processing starters and leavers.
  • Administer all employee benefits including but not limited to, cycle to work, private healthcare and support employee queries.
  • Maintain a monthly payroll file for all new starters, leavers and changes.

The Person
The desirable qualities of a successful Payroll Assistant will be:

  • Previous experience within Payroll
  • Detailed knowledge of a computerised Payroll system
  • Experience using iTrent

The Salary & Package
The salary and package of the Payroll Assistant will be:

  • Salary of up to £24,500 dependant on previous qualifications and experience
