  • Job description

  • We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and valuesdriven teammember to work crossfunctionally with our Flood Risk Management and Water, Land and Biodiversity asset management teams. This is an exciting 18 month assignment opportunity for a dedicated technical leader with expertise in tree risk management, public safety risk assessment (PSRA) and contract management, to ensure our assets are safe, effective and resilient for both our operatives and the public. You will be passionate about ensuring that our systems and processes and the way we work every day, support this.

You will be instrumental in ensuring we meet our legal responsibility and maintenance obligations focusing on multi-functional assets and assets which are owned by the Agency.

This will involve managing the delivery of various inspections and maintenance activities, with the primary focus on ensuring the assets have been public safety assessed, including, but not limited to, the delivery of tree risk assessments.

To deliver the inspections and programmes of work successfully, engagement and effective communication with both internal staff and external contractors will be required.

As a significant number of assets will be EA land holdings, tree assessments must be completed therefore in-depth knowledge of tree risk management is required.

  • You'll work closely with a number of our diverse teams who are dispersed across the East Midlands. They are responsible for the management of a huge variety of assets which provide an essential service to protect people and the environment. We construct, maintain and inspect assets and ensure they are safe for our operators and the public. We use robust data to make the best investment decisions to maximise the value of our assets.
  • Experience/skills required
  • Experience in project and/or contract management
  • Significant experience managing or delivering public safety risk assessments and tree inspections
  • Tree risk management qualifications such as qualified arboriculturist and/or Level 2 Tree Inspector or working towards
  • Working knowledge of the CDM Regulations would be beneficial
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships and communicate with colleagues, contractors and customers
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance (including Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Occupiers Liability Act 1957 and 1984, Managing Visitor Safety in the Countryside and Managing Visitor Safety in the Historic Built Environment) is desirable
  • Ability to produce guidance and support the development of others
  • A driving licence is required as there will be some travel between offices and sites where public transport is limited. You will be expected to work from the Trentside Office in Nottingham regularly where the majority of the teams you'll work with are based.
