About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow to focus on the designing, delivering and executing of clinical trials of malaria vaccines and human malaria challenge studies in Oxford and providing support for trials at partner sites in Africa (Tanzania, The Gambia and Burkina Faso) and Thailand.

As a Clinical Research Fellow, you will provide clinical input into the design and execution of clinical trials with other team members and take responsibility for delivering designated clinical trials.

You will work closely with the clinical trials team in the design and conduct of clinical trials.

You will provide technical advice and training for research staff relevant to the implementation of the research and lead with regards to clinical governance in the monitoring and reporting of the research at study sites and to trial specific data safety monitoring boards.

You will provide medical oversight of trial participants and present results verbally or as written reports for both internal meetings and external collaborators.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the UKRI for up to 2 years in the first instance.

The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you

It is essential that you hold active GMC registration and must currently be qualified and licensed to practice medicine in the UK, you will also have experience within clinical medicine.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to confidently interact with a wide range of audiences including, volunteers, laboratory, and administrative staff, monitors and the broader research community.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also required for this role.

Previous laboratory or clinical trials experience relevant to malaria or infectious diseases or vaccine research and a knowledge of immunology are desirable.
