A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to work within Communicable Diseases speciality at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as PA to the Clinical Director.

We are seeking a motivated, positive individual to become part of the Management Team administrative team.

You will work flexibly and be responsive to the needs of the Clinical Director to provide a dedicated and comprehensive Personal Assistant service, ensuring their time is appropriately managed and workload is delivered.


To provide a comprehensive high quality confidential, administration and personal assistant (PA) service to the Clinical Director, thereby ensuring their time is used optimally to discharge their personal objectives.


To be the first point of contact for requests on the Clinical Director, proactively managing their inbox and diary, arranging meetings and greeting visitors, preparing meeting papers, taking and tracking action points and typing up minutes.

The Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine is an active unit with 33 dedicated beds, located on E-floor of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and with out-patient facilities adjacent to the ward area.

The Department provides a seven-day a week demand led sub-regional specialty service, which is 'on take' for admissions every day of the year.

Patients are admitted as secondary and tertiary referrals from general practice, accident and emergency and transfer from other hospitals.

The Department has an active out-patient service with dedicated clinics every week and dedicated staff for Hepatitis (B & C), HIV/AIDS and TB monitoring.

There are in addition general infection medical clinics per week for new and follow up patients.

There is an active and expanding service to deliver intravenous antibiotics as an out-patient thus avoiding or reducing the need for in-patient admission (OPAT Unit).

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 2 years.

Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder.

The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
