About The Client
Our client is currently looking to recruit a Deputy Manager with SEND responsibilities. This position is for an ASAP start and is term-time only.
The nursery welcome all children and pride themselves on doing everything they can to support children withSpecial Educational Needs and Disabilities.
They are an OFSTED registered company and achieved an overall grade 'Good' on their latest inspection.Key Responsibilities
- To work under the direction of the Manager and deputise for her as and when required
- To assist the Manager in every aspect to ensure the smooth running of the Playgroup
- To ensure that all Playgroup policies and procedures are followed
- To support the Playgroup's commitment on safeguarding children and to act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- To be the SENCO for the Playgroup and to work with, and deploy, the SEND Teachers to provide high quality care and education for children with SEND
- To be flexible in hours and duties to meet the needs and requirements of the Playgroup
- To assist the Manager with the planning of the curriculum within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework so that all children at Sandbrook Community Playgroup learn and develop well
- To help the Manager supervise the work of the Early Years Teachers in the Playgroup on a daily basis
- To be aware of the Playgroup's responsibilities under the SEND Code of Practice and ensure these are incorporated in daily practice
- Ensure all staff in the Playgroup understand their responsibilities to children with SEN and the Playgroup's approach to identifying and meeting SEN
- Advise and support other team members regarding teaching children with SEND
- Ensure parents of children with SEND are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken by the Playgroup
- Liaise with professionals or agencies beyond the Playgroup to support children with SEND
- To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained
- To organise and carry out risk assessments on a regular basis
- Ensure the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children and ensure staff compliance and awareness
