Are you a highly experienced at managing events? Are you organised, methodical and calm, with unquestionable attention to detail. Can you deliver events to deadlines and within budget? Do you want to deliver amazing, memorable events for major stakeholders?


We are looking for a seasoned Events Manager to join our established fundraising department, as soon as possible for a 12 month period, to support and deliver a wide range of events across the RSC, working across departments.

Working in the current eventsteam you will oversee the successful delivery of quality RSC Development and Stakeholder events in Stratford-upon-Avon and London to support our organisational objectives.


This position is offered as a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract which can be based in either our Stratford-upon-Avon or London offices, with some remote working.

This role will include managing London and Stratford-upon-Avon based events and involvetravel between the two.


The Development Services and Events team ensures our fundraisers have the resources and conditions they need to work effectively and efficiently, follow fundraising best practice and remain compliant with all relevant legislation.

They deliver a busy programmeof Development and Stakeholder events which support the strategic objectives and priorities of the RSC including prospect cultivation, donor stewardship, corporate membership and sponsorship activity as well as large, high-profile fundraising events such asgalas and royal events.

Across the wider organisation they include press nights, stakeholder engagement events, staff events and our AGM.

Reporting to the Head of Development Services, some of your duties and responsibilities will include (see the job description for the comprehensive list):

  • Following the events strategy to deliver our cross-organisational events programme in Stratford-upon-Avon, London, on tour and the US, showcasing the work of the RSC
  • Planning, creating, implementing and managing a variety of events, with the purpose of recruiting, stewarding and thanking partners and donors
  • Working closely with RSC colleagues, Board and volunteer leadership, external contractors and stakeholders to manage every aspect of events
  • Ensuring extremely highquality standards for the success of RSC events
  • Venuebooking, setting up, catering and dressing venues, coordinating guest lists, ticket allocations, invitations and RSVPs
  • Ensuring guest lists are appropriate for each event
  • Providing timely written and in person briefings, working closely with the Development and Communications team to support organisational messaging
  • Researching appropriate hospitality venues and entertaining opportunities for events in London and on tour
  • Managing systems to deliver sustained firstclass events and hires, resolving day to day operational issues
  • Ensuring all events are risk assessed and comply with health and safety
  • Delivering and managing events budgets, contributing to raising expected income and meeting return on investment targets
  • Ensuring that all financial data is accurate and well managed
  • Coordinating all database activity and information management relating to guest lists
  • Representing the RSC Development team at events and being an effective ambassador at all times
  • Promoting GDPR, the Fundraising Code of Practice compliance and striving for fundraising best practice
We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of successful event management
  • A record of developing and delivering income
  • Highly developed event planning and delivery skills
  • Highly organised and methodical, with attention to every event detail
  • Presentation as a highly credible advocate with major stakeholders
  • Dedicated and responsible attitude towards work and related targets
  • Belief in the importance of the work of the RSC
  • A team player with strong sense of selfmotivation
  • The ability to remain calm and solutions focussed when things don't quite go to plan
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, together with confidence when communicating at all levels of seniority, internally and externally.

It is not essential for you to have worked in an Arts or fundraising environment, what is important is yourexperience of setting up and delivering outstanding events.

The standard operating hours of the Development Department are Monday to Friday with team members working within 8am and 6pm, but as this role involves supporting on events there will be work required outside of normal working hours and on weekends.

The RSC operates hybrid working, with roles split between the home and office.

This role requires a minimum of two days a week in our Stratford-upon-Avon or London office, and the option of working the remaining three days a week from home or the office.

Travel to our offices and management of our events will be required between central London and Stratford-upon-Avon.
