About the Role:


Barton Surgery has an opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic administration assistant to join our busy practice support team, on a
part-time basis for 25 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday.


You will be responsible for scanning mail, data entry, summarising of patient records and to assist in the preparation of insurance reports and private work.

This is a varied and exciting role working closely wit the other admin staff to provide a complete support service.


The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • scanning all mail.
- posting all notes on the computer system to patients notes/ GPs as appropriate.
- working closely with the other administration staff to provide a complete service.
- assisting with data entry and to ensure all data is accurately input onto patient record on the system.
- aware of the data protection act.
- extracting information if and when required.
- ensuring that confidentiality of patient information is respected at all times.
- assisting with maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.
- summarising medical notes accurately.
- following agreed protocol for summarising
- liaising with the IT & admin managers as necessary.
- ensuring all private work requests are logged onto the computer system.
- taking payment for private work requests.
- ensuring private work is carried out within the time scale set by the practice.
- completing any other duties appropriate to the post.

  • Previous administration experience.
  • Adaptable and friendly, with strong administration, time management and organisational skills;
  • Excellent communicators able to work in a confidential and discreet manner;
  • Able to "think on their feet" in a busy working environment;
  • Able to multitask, work hard and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure;
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.


About Us:
Our practice is well established covering the rural area of Barton-Le-Clay and surrounding villages. There is a branch surgery at Gooseberry Hill covering parts of Northern Luton.

The aim of the practice is to provide good family medicine in conditions conducive to matching the high expectations of our patients.
