Job description:


This role is part of our 'Project Acorn' initiative devised to develop the estates professionals of the future The role is an exciting opportunity as you will be part of a team instrumental in the delivery of Facility Management (FM) services to a diverse customer base across the Ministry of Defence built estate You will have the opportunity to support both military and civilian customers whilst learning about the FM profession.


The post will provide you with a significant sense of achievement by developing FM skills, whilst also acquiring an understanding as to how DIO operates and delivers to our customers.

Additionally, you will learn and participate in asset management, best value procurement processes and contribute to continuous improvements in the services we offer.


Over the last few years DIO have undergone significant changes in how we operate and how we deliver our services.

This programme of change is called Future DIO, and we are at the forefront of smarter working practices, for which we seek to develop further.


Person specification:

Working as a Facilities Officer you will be gaining an understanding of how combining resources and activities in Hard and Soft Facilities Management (FM), can contribute to strategic and operational objectives Further
- more, you will understand how effective FM provides a safe and efficient working environment, encompassing multi-disciplinary activities to maintain the built estate. As a Facilities Officer you will acquire many of the core skills of a Facilities Manager and contribute to activities such as contract management, collaborative working and asset compliance.

During your time with us, you will

  • Initially as part of Project Acorn you will adhere to the required learning outcomes.
  • Learn contract management processes.
  • Learn partner management.
  • Assist in assurance activities.
  • Assist in service delivery.
  • Learn Risk Management processes.
  • Utilise IT work systems.
  • Learn and assist with estates compliance.
  • Assist with Additional Works Services (AWS).
  • Work towards becoming a trusted advisor on all aspects of FM.

Desirable Experience & Skills
National 5 Maths and 2-3 Highers, achieved at levels A-C, including English (or equivalents).
