Who You Are

  • You possess knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations and security systems and procedures. You have basic skills in plumbing, joinery, painting to a DIY standard and the ability to carry out safe manual handling. You have the ability to communicate politely and work with persons at all levels, maintain clear health and safety records, follow action plans and induct staff in basic health and safety procedures. You have good interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to assess risks and ensure health and safety compliance. You know how to use your own initiative, work independently and work flexibly across locations and working hours.
  • Your experience includes the operation of alarm and heating systems, porterage, DIY experience at the level of minor maintenance including plumbing and joinery. You have taken responsibility for the care and maintenance of premises and dealt with contractors. You understand and have the ability to deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers and have experience working as a team member.
  • What the Job Involves
  • You will work in accordance with the practices and procedures of the Local Authority to deliver effective and efficient buildings maintenance support across Targeted Youth Support. Your tasks will include monitoring and maintaining the security of premises and its contents, maintaining the lighting and heating of premises, overseeing the cleaning of centres, and undertaking handyperson duties. You will develop and maintain relevant records and information systems and assist the Team Manager through monitoring of compliance and promotion of health and safety procedures.
  • You will liaise with staff, parents/carers and external agencies, ensure adherence to financial regulations when ordering supplies and resources and assist with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures relating to health, safety and security. Furthermore, you will ensure that buildings and the site are secure, operate and regularly check systems such as heating, water, cooling, lighting and security, and undertake general portage duties across centres. Ultimately, your goal is to maintain an efficient recycling programme and ensure a safe and clean environment in accordance with health and safety and COSHH regulations.
