Main Purpose


We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Custodial Workers and Housekeepers at 48th Force Support Squadron, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom.


Th successful applicant will outline specific tasks to be performed on cleaning and maintaining transient facilities within the organization by leading the Custodial Workers and Housekeepers within the organization.

They will lead, direct, and control the work of a minimum of 16 full-time employees across different workstations at RAF Lakenheath.

In addition, they will order and maintain supplies of all required cleaning materials for the role.

They will inspect assigned buildings daily to monitor that work is carried out to the required standard, in a satisfactory manner, and provide any required training.

Part of their duties will be to report any maintenance work issues to the building custodian for action.

When required due to personnel shortages, they will fill in by carrying out the role of a Custodial Worker and/or Housekeeper.

Knowledge and Experience Required _**:

_Applicants must demonstrate the following**:

  • Knowledge of the Lodging operation is desirable.
  • Ability to direct subordinate employees to complete duties by the most productive and effective means.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, and always maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the Lodging Operation.
  • Ability to show a positive, professional, respectful, and courteous attitude with proper manners when dealing with all guests.

  • Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization's flexible working policies.
  • Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
  • Position may be coded as mission essential.
  • A 6month probationary period will be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.

Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:

  • A pre-employment physical with Strength test will be required at RAF Lakenheath. Frequent Lifting of moving objects up to 40 pounds required.

Duty Hours:

The organizational mission is to provide 24-hour, 7 day-a-week service which necessitates the incumbent of this position to work as scheduled on a rotational system to include weekends and American and British holidays, and occasional overtime.

The arrival of unscheduled aircraft may necessitate overtime without notice.

Working Conditions:
Subject to all weather conditions while in transit between assigned buildings.
