Label & Packaging Supervisor


At Fresh People we are currently recruiting for a Label & Packaging Supervisor on behalf of our client a US Fresh Produce Business based in Greenhithe Near Dartford in Kent at their brand new facility.


With minimum of 3+ years previous experience gained working within a Fresh Produce Business or busy Production Environment, you will have a proficient knowledge of production and the labelling procedures and policies, have previously worked in a label room and understand manufacturing supply chain and have the ability to create labels using creation specific programs.

Must have strong organizational skills with a firm understanding of Stock Management Systems, Microsoft Office and ERP software ( SAP, Freshware or D365).

Excellent interpersonal skills along with good written and verbal skills, a strong leader with the ability to work in a fast paced working environment


Main Responsibilities of the Role


To ensure all labels and packaging are stored, produced, and issued in accordance with customer specifications for product and type.

Record information accurately and make sure that all necessary administrative checks are made. Ensure procedures and processes are followed accurately to maintain inventories and satisfy order fulfillment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all labels are correct, printed as required and the specific details are correct to the allocated job.
  • Ensure that the correct procedure for label printing is followed to ensure that all labels are printed within specification. Liaise with QC and Packhouse supervisors regarding any requirement changes.
  • Maintain accurate data on label software.
  • Conduct routine inspections of processes to look for improvement opportunities and provide solutions to line management.
  • To complete paperwork and any associated administrative tasks related to the labels and packaging. Set the correct processes and train these out for the required staff.
  • Correctly and efficiently prepare stock such as film/bags/inserts and labels for the production lines to run the following day using the production plan raised.
  • Create SOPs for all processes and ensure effective cross training amongst all staff members
  • To undertake stock checks on print room supplies and report this back to line manager in good time to order.
  • To deal with any requests for additional labels shorts, etc. or potential substitutions and report back any concerns you may have relating to additional labels.
  • Compiling staff rotas, dealing with leave requests, and arranging cover when necessary.
  • Carry out WPIs to ensure site is kept safe and procedures are being followedEnsuring that the Safety Management System is effectively implemented within areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring risk assessments, regular inspections and audits are carried out.
  • Implement and maintain workplace precautions suitable to the working environment and as identified in risk assessments.
  • Ensuring that all accidents, incidents and near misses reported to them are documented and investigated correctly.
  • Provide suitable levels of information, instruction, training and supervision to employees in their area.
  • Ensuring that training is comprehensible and understood by the person to whom it is addressed.
  • Provide feedback on performance including successes and failure of plans or precautions against KPIs.
  • Ensure effective communication through their departments of Health & Safety activities.
  • Maintaining safety discipline within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that any remedial actions that are beyond their scope of authorisation are brought to the attention of their immediate superior.
  • Ensure that quality objectives and delivery deadlines are met.

£30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
