TWO Medical Laboratory Assistants (Healthcare Support Worker AFC Band 3) Medical Microbiology

1) Full time 37.5 hours per week to include rotational late duty and weekends

2) Part time 26 hours per week to include rotational late duty and weekends


The successful applicant will be expected to assist the departments scientific staff in the provision of an efficient and flexible diagnostic service which will involve a rotational Saturday and Sunday working and participating in a rotational extended day service.

Duties will be split between specimen reception activities, preparation of specimens for analysis, the performance of routine non-interpretative procedures and the operation of automated analytical equipment.


The Rotherham Foundation Trust is currently one of five Trusts involved in the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Transformation Programme.

The aim is to design a Pathology Service that provides all SYB patients and clinicians with equitable access to high-quality, innovative laboratory services that will ensure the best clinical outcomes for patients.

The service will be efficient and sustainable, encourage research and development in collaboration with Academia and Industry to improve health in the region and provide rewarding jobs and career opportunities for all staff.

The Transformation Programme may include the consolidation of some services. Teams will be included and communicated with and on proposals that may involve them.
