JOB TITLE:

Grounds Maintenance Officer


SALARY GRADE:

Scale 2 SCP 5 £11.18 (Plus Overtime Allowance)

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Team Leader


LOCATION:

Any Council site across the Brough (Mainly Belmont Cemetery)


MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:


Undertake work of a horticultural nature and carry out grounds maintenance as directed throughout the Parks and Cemeteries Service to include artificial surfaces; parks; playing fields; golf courses; and other open spaces.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES


1 Demonstrate a team approach to achieving the objectives of the Section through full flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken.


2 Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and following issues through to completion.

3 Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills to enhance internal and external customer service.

4 Comply with Council's policies and procedures including those relating to health, safety, wellbeing and safeguarding.

5 Promote equality and diversity by demonstrating appropriate behaviours in line with Council values.


6 Carry out any other relevant duties which may be assigned including working in other sections of the Department and Council.


EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATION


As the post involves significant physical and manual handling elements, the post holder must be of a satisfactory level of general fitness.


ESSENTIAL

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 1 years' experience of horticultural work including planting, bedding and flowerbed maintenance.

Displays a positive attitude and flexible approach


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Working knowledge of grass cutting, and grounds maintenance techniques
  • Knowledge of horticultural materials including shrub, bedding, plants, etc.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations

Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract

£11.18 per hour
