REPORTING TO:

Community Health & Wellbeing Programme Manager


POST HOURS/HOLIDAYS:

hours per week

TOIL and flexi systems in operation

25 days holiday per year plus statutory bank holidays (pro rata for 30 hours)


SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF POST:

The post will involve some evening and weekend work as required, in relation to projects, meetings, events etc.

Purpose and Objectives of the Post

  • To help deliver Groundwork's community development programme in our most disadvantaged communities across West Yorkshire, by engaging local people and partner organisations in the development and delivery of projects.
  • To enable Groundwork to fulfil its mission to bring about lasting environmental improvements through partnerships and contributing to the economic and social regeneration of the area.
  • To provide support, advice and resources to increase the capacity of local communities to participate in their own social, environmental and economic regeneration.

Main Responsibilities

  • To act as a full member of the Communities team and assist in the delivery of regional based programmes and activities when required.
  • To support the delivery of the local programme, including; planning, implementation and evaluation with support from the Community Programme Manager.
  • To assist in the achievement of key outcomes relating to the programme.
  • Engage local communities and other relevant agencies in the development and delivery of projects and programmes which address both need and strategic developments locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Ensure that projects are completed within agreed deadlines and budgets and work adheres to the Trust's financial and monitoring processes and procedures.
  • Provide feedback and evaluate progress and achievements as required by Groundwork to ensure that stipulated targets, outputs and outcomes are met and prepare written progress and monitoring reports.
  • Ensure the proper use and good order of tools, material, equipment, vehicles and supporting administrative systems.
  • Help to develop Groundwork's ability to compete locally for tendering for community engagement and consultative work.
  • Engage with other staff members internally and lead on the development of new community based initiatives. Effective team-work is essential, so as well as a need to work on your own initiative, the post holder will also be required to work alongside others in many instances.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and a friendly and positive attitude to all partners and community members. Manage communication skills to tailor approach to different audiences if required, taking account of different perspectives, personalities, behaviours and cultures.
  • Participate in the wider activities of the Trust and promote Groundwork's achievements by working with the media, producing press releases, giving talks and presentations, developing personal contacts and organising displays etc. This may include representing the Trust at meetings conferences and other events where appropriate.
  • To ensure adherence with all corporate Policies and Procedures in place, in particular Health and Safety Policy, Safeguarding Policy and Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, that may change from time to time.
  • As a small organisation, it is important that all staff are able to work effectively as a team and provide mutual support. Therefore, the post holder may be called upon to assist in other aspects of the team and organisation's activities.
