A bit about the role
:

The Head of Strategic Projects will play a vital role in Homes England to drive the agency's mission and objectives, working across the agency and externally with partners and Whitehall.

This role will bring commercial and technical expertise to bridge the gap between strategy and delivery, supporting large scale development sites.

The Strategic Projects team is a small multidisciplinary team with a remit to identify, lead on and provide support to large-scale, complex and innovative projects that require multiple interventions, cross-government and cross discipline working.

By forming a clear understanding of the strategic context and priorities surrounding a particular project at the pre-development stage; and by drawing on expertise and relationships, the team develops robust, large-scale housing strategies that will drive market change and unlock delivery.

The Strategic Projects team is predominantly focussed on London and major national development infrastructure projects and is the front door for partners to access Homes England skills and products.

The team works with other directorates at Homes England to contract deals that would not have happened without Homes England's intervention.

A bit about you:

The team works on projects which range in size from 2,000 to 25,000 homes and are mostly development infrastructure focussed.

You will therefore be able to provide strategic guidance and solutions to these types of projects.

  • Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a very senior level.
  • You will be a critical friend to partners, while also being supportive and engaging. You will be comfortable with having difficult and challenging conversations.
  • You will be aware of the political sensitivities and be able to steer your way through to coordinate stakeholders, deal with uncertainties and be an advocate of the team's projects.
  • Your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an agency.
  • You will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.
  • You will be used to "spinning several plates" at once, meeting various internal and external deadlines.
  • You will be able to work with the rest of the management team in a supportive and collaborative way.
  • You will be able to lead on large scale projects across the Agency that require crossteam and multidisciplinary ways of working. In addition, you will be able to manage and inspire a small direct team in a caring and inclusive way, as well as being someone who isn't afraid to get into the detail and help with project work.
