We are recruiting for a Library Assistant who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.


There will be some basic searching for articles using library databases, an opportunity to be creative supporting the Senior Library Assistant with library displays and social media.

There is some small financial responsibility taking cash payments and helping the Deputy Library Manager process the cash taken.

Support library users in their search for evidence-based resources by offering basic advice on database searching and accessing of electronic journals.

Undertake the issue, renewal and return of library books using the computerised library management system.

Ensure timely return of items, through communication with library users.

Deliver basic training for library users in the use of library facilities, catalogue, databases and electronic resources.

Meet library customer request for articles, reports and books not immediately available by submitting requests to external libraries.

Satisfy requests from other NHS libraries for article copies and books held by the Medway Maritime Hospital Library. Ensure prompt turnaround times.
