About the role:

Do you h ave a desire to work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? Are you a bubbly and enthusiastic person?

Vision for Education are experiencing a high demand from special needs schools across Darwen and other areas of East Lancashire for people who want to work as a 1-1 Teaching Assistant.


  • You will be expected to provide classroombased support to children from the ages of 51
  • As a 11 Teaching Assistant you will have the ability to positively engage with children with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • You will be required to assist young people with a range of Moderate Learning difficulties, primarily Autism
  • There are opportunities for the role to become a permanent position after a qualifying period is worked

  • The schools that we work with in Blackburn and Darwen provide a supportive and nurturing environment for students who find mainstream school settings unsuitable.
  • Students are placed in classes based on their ability levels as well as their age
  • Many pupils will be nonverbal and the use of communication tools such as Makaton are widely used
  • Class sizes are small with high staff to pupil ratios

Requirements:

To be considered for the role of 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Have a desire to work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Have a patient and caring nature
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications.

The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:


  • Have relevant experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
  • Desirable hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
