Are you eager to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the public health approach to reducing health inequalities? At LGT, SCPHN's lead on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, provision of Universal Services and Targeted interventions to those children and families with the greatest need.


We are invested in the development of Public Health Nursing, and this is underpinned by our Public Health Nursing strategy and training programme for all roles within the PHN teams.


All Health Visitors and Assistant HV Practitioners have corporate membership with the Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) and School Nurses will have the opportunity for membership of the School and Public Health Nurses Association (SAPHNA) both of which offer a wealth of professional training programmes and resources to support excellent practice.

  • Knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme
  • An interest in wider determinants of health to tackle public health needs and the drivers that influence our profession.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and yet be part of a wider team.
  • Emotional maturity in difficult or distressing situations
  • Leadership qualities and the willingness to take responsibility and make appropriate decisions.
  • A high level of academic skills and the ability to cope with a very intense year with academic deadlines.
  • A reflective learner able to build on previous experience and knowledge.

Current NMC Registration for nursing or midwifery
or

NMC registration within 2 months of the start date

  • DipHE (or above) qualification equivalent to 120 credits at
level 5 (of the Higher Education Credit Framework for England)
2 or evidence of previous education and learning to this level. 3


Note:

For the post graduate diploma route a 2:1 Honours Degree is
necessary

Eligibility to work in the UK.

Literacy and Numeracy at the level of the National Qualifications
Framework at level 1-2 for Numeracy (equivalent of GCSE) and 3-4
for Literacy (equivalent of A level).
