We are recruiting a
Contracts Manager to join our Commercial team to develop and manage our Services Utilities strategy to deliver an improved service and value for money for our customers.


Salary:
£Competitive depending on experience, plus company car or car allowance and benefits


Location:
Hybrid role with travel to Bournemouth when required


Hours: 37 per week - Monday to Friday


Job purpose:

As Utilities Manager - Services, your role is to develop a strong working relationship with our energy broker, utility suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure McCarthy Stone Management Services has a robust utilities managementstrategy which is well-understood and well-managed on behalf of our 22,500+ customers.

Given the recent volatility of energy markets, this role has become increasingly important to ensure we are delivering a transparent service and value for money for ourcustomers.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Own the relationship with our utility brokers who procure gas and electricity supplies for our 500+ developments under management
  • Represent McCarthy Stone Management Services as part of the Groupwide working group to manage the transition between energy brokers, ensuring a joinedup approach between Building divisions, Sales and Services and seamless transition of new and existingsupplies
  • Understand the energy market and work with our energy broker to understand and communicate our energy procurement strategy, including optimising solar PV or other sustainable energy technology
  • Understand the water supply market and identify a strategy and plan to investigate and implement transition from domestic to commercial water supply
  • Identify and prepare internal communications and content for customerfacing communications relating to topics such as energy price movements, changes in contractual rates, government support etc, to enable our operational colleagues to proactively engagewith our customers
  • Ensure uptodate records are maintained by our energy broker to provide timely and accurate information to internal stakeholders
  • Work with the energy brokers and external thirdparty suppliers to ensure accurate energy rates are reflected in customer billing where McCarthy Stone Management Services provides services directly to customers (for example Network Heating and ElectricVehicle Charging)
  • Manage the account set up of supplies where they are not contracted through the energy broker (e.g. communal water supplies)
  • Define, plan and lead internal improvement projects relating to our utility supplies and/or suppliers to improve our customer service and optimise internal processes

Other general responsibilities:


  • Maintain and improve standards and consistency by keeping up to date and operating within the latest defined standard specifications, using the approved documentation, process, systems, and source information to ensure consistent and effective performance
  • Always fully comply with McCarthy Stone's policies and procedures
  • Actively engage and collaboratively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder's experience and qualifications as may be required for the smooth running of the business

Relationships:


  • Work with all key business stakeholders and functions these include Services Senior Leadership Team, Services Operations, IT, Finance, HR, Procurement, Legal, Sales & Marketing and Build
  • Develop a robust working relationship with our energy brokers

Person Specification:


Knowledge & Experience:


  • Requires knowledge and understanding of the commercial and / or domestic energy market
  • Requires account management experience. Specifically relating to utility suppliers advantageous
  • Project delivery experience strongly desired

Skills & Competencies:


  • Strong communication skills including managing internal and external stakeholders; and preparing and presenting recommendations in a clear and compelling manner
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions from data in a logical and systematic way
  • Excellent relationship management skills and tenacity to engage with utility suppliers
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to plan projects to manage expectations and deliver to deadlines
  • Applies critical thinking to identify a range of solutions to complex problems
  • A highly collaborative approach, able to pull information from others with mínimal impact / oversight and comfortable owning discrete deliverables
  • Experience using Microsoft Applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalents)
