This post is only open to Bradford Council Employees who are on Established or Fixed Term Contract because the Council has to consider employment opportunities for its workforce.
The role of City Park Custodian is very varied and we want to recruit a flexible and capable person who can communicate well on matters relevant to City Park with businesses, members of the public, City Centre Cleansing Team, West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Ambulance Service, CCTV and other staff and Agencies


We want you to promote a very positive image of City Park by providing excellent customer service and maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness of the pavilion toilets and the whole of the City Park area including City Park and Mirror Pool, Centenary Square and Norfolk Gardens.


The successful applicant will, on their shift, supervise and manage the day-to-day operation of the Mirror Pool plant room, Plant Room equipment and processes, Mirror Pool, decking and under-decking lighting, fountains and associated lighting ensuring that all components are safe to operate and are working to optimum performance, appropriate for the weather and to report any issues to the right person in a timely manner.


  • You will take and record water test data and meter readings
  • You will work independently on your shift and will provide first aid and other assistance in the City Park area.
  • The shift pattern is 4 days on and 4 days off and you will be required, following the shift pattern, to work Bank Holidays, weekends and hours into the evening
  • There is a great deal of practical and statutory training to be undertaken therefore a willingness to learn is necessary
