Description
The European Road Freight Forwarder who will report into the Line Manager or Director will complete the following tasks:

  • Investigating and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment, considering the perishable or hazardous nature of goods, cost, transit time and security
  • Handling all general freight forwarding job from initial quotation to final delivery
  • Providing a high level of customer service and building good business relationships with clients
  • Maintaining and establishing relationships with customers new and old
  • Liaising with customers, overseas agents, and shipping lines
  • Collating documentation for customs clearance
  • Completion of customs entries
  • Arranging deliveries
  • Dealing with any queries
  • Liaising with hauliers and internal transport team
  • Keeping customers informed with the status of their shipments
  • Quotations
  • Updating the company inhouse system
  • Administration and invoicing
  • Commercial awareness all at times

Profile
The ideal European Road Freight Forwarder will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience within European road freight operations.
  • Previously worked within freight forwarding
  • Good knowledge and understanding of freight forwarding procedures and documentation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of customs clearance and multi modal documentation desired but not essential.
  • Qualification in freight forwarding or hazardous goods desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst being consistent.
  • Experience with both imports and exports is desired.
  • Ability to work independently and amongst a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude with a willingness to learn.
