Are you an experienced Caretaker looking for a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Look no further We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Caretaker to join a team at an Ofsted rated "GOOD" Special School in South Birmingham.

About the School:

The school is a special educational school catering to children aged 3 to 19 years who have diverse special educational needs.

The school takes pride in representing the rich cultural mix that characterises the general population of Birmingham.

With a focus on providing exceptional education to young people with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the school has a proven track record of success.

Responsibilities:

As an experienced Caretaker, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for our students and staff.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Ensuring the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas.
Undertaking general maintenance tasks, such as basic repairs, plumbing, and electrical work, to ensure the school's facilities are in excellent working order.
Managing the school's equipment and supplies, performing regular checks and organising repairs or replacements as needed.
Overseeing the security of the premises, including monitoring access points and implementing safety measures.
Assisting with the setup of school events and activities and ensuring that the facilities are prepared appropriately.
Collaborating with other staff members and departments to address specific maintenance needs as they arise.
Responding promptly to any emergency situations or urgent repair requests.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

Proven experience as a Caretaker or in a similar facilities management position.
Solid knowledge of general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and minor repairs.
A keen eye for cleanliness and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with staff and students.
Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity towards the needs of children with special educational needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Salary:
£13.73 per hour

Contract Type:
Full-time.

Hours: 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 6:30am and 6:30pm (shifts)
