The Manchester College is based at many sites across the city, each with its own specialist cutting edge facilities within a friendly and supportive environment.

We are the largest FE College in the UK providing education and training to a wide range of learners.


We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw Campus to join our Supported Learning Department as a Transition Officer on a permanent, full time (35 hours per week) basis.**The Transition Officer plays a key role in ensuring that the move from school to college for young people with an Education Health and Care Plan is smooth and successful.

Full participation to team working to drive an inclusive strategy whilst working independently on a day-to-day basis.


To establish strong networks and professional working relationships with a wide range of schools, colleges, parents, internal and external agencies across the Greater Manchester district to facilitate the effective transition of learners with a SEND into the college.

Working autonomously within multi-agency professional meetings.

An ability to seek out additional information to enable informed and complex decisions using the available information for learners with a SEND.


In order to do this role, you will need:

  • Disability Specialism, Level 2 Certificate In supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
  • L2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • Experience of working with SEND students, particularly those with an Educational Health and Care Plan is an advantage, as is having worked in a school or college setting.
  • Developing and working with Education, Health and Care plans and contributing in Person Centred Reviews
  • Working with multiagencies to plan and provide effective support to learners with SEND
  • Creating bespoke packages to support people
