Senior Medicines Management Assistant - Ward Services

Due to continued innovation and development of the technical pharmacy services at Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary we are delighted to be able to advertise this new post.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant looking to take the next step and develop their career in technical services.


The post holder will supervise the Medicines Management Assistants and will be responsible for trouble shooting and maximising efficiency of the services provided at ward level.

You will be heavily involved in the training and development of Medicines Management Assistants, stock control at ward level and ensuring that medication is dispensed accurately and available to meet the patient's needs.

You will work closely with and be line managed by the Senior Pharmacy Technician for Clinical Ward Services.


You must be competent in all dispensary and ward-based activities, and work to the high standards set within the Pharmacy Department.

Holding the NVQ2 for Pharmacy Services and experience of the Medicines Management Assistant role is essential.


You must be able to prioritise your workload, use initiative, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be committed to the delivery of high standards in a patient focused service.

The post holder will conduct appraisals and hold basic HR meetings for staff under their supervision.


You will play a key part to ensure ward areas comply with local and national standards and be proactive to raise awareness of these standards under the direction of the Senior Pharmacy Technician for Clinical Ward Services.

You will be required to demonstrate and communicate that you have the required skills for this post at interview.

The post offers an attractive salary, and 27 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays) per year.


There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours, working late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.


The post holder should be ready for a new challenge, show initiative in supporting service improvements, be a team player and have good problem solving skills.

The post holder should have good interpersonal skills and enjoy being part of a busy department.
