The Waste Strategy team has a critical role to play in the future direction of our investment to better understand and substantially improve our impact on the environment, while also striking the right balance for our customers and stakeholders.


We are looking for a Flood Risk Coordinator to join our team and develop partnership strategies with risk management authorities and a range of stakeholders.

What you'll do:


You will lead the sharing of data and information relating to the drainage and wastewater infrastructure with external partners and stakeholders to help contribute to the development of collaborative partnership strategies.


These plans define and determine a range of measures to manage the current issues and future challenges that our network faces from domestic and commercial customers, surface/rainwater flows, and groundwater infiltration.


Your work will include:
- liaising with flood risk management authorities and a wide range of stakeholders to develop short, medium and long-term catchment-specific drainage strategies focused on achieving outcomes of the drainage and wastewater management plan (DWMP).
- coordinating the development of surface water management plans with flood risk management authorities to increase the understanding of where nature-based sustainable solutions can deliver increased resilience to drainage and wastewater infrastructure
- liaising with internal teams throughout the business to ensure the alignment of strategies and programmes of work.
- leading the asset resilience assessment for the DWMP
- assisting with data analysis and reporting, entry and analysis of the corporate risk and investment tools
- assisting with external data sharing with flood risk management authorities
- assisting with updates to our public-facing portals and webpages, ensuring we have a robust quality process
- undertaking the entry and analysis of data into corporate risk and investment tools.


What you'll need:


To be successful in this role, you will:

  • need experience within the water industry, flood risk management, or a related field
- have a good understanding of sewerage flood risk, sustainable drainage, policies and regulations
- have excellent communication skills (including presentation skills, team working, written and verbal, and correspondence)
- have the ability to create excellent relationships throughout the business and with external stakeholders
- have experience in data management and manipulation (Microsoft Excel and GIS systems).
