Morgan Hunt are currently working in partnership with a top 100 International Law firm, based in the City of London, on the recruitment of a newly created Financial Controller position.

The Financial Controller, who will report directly into the Head ofFinance and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across the firm (including with the CFO and Managing Partners) will be responsible for the day to day leadership of the law firm's successful finance function.


With stunning offices based in the City of London, this law firm are recognised by their international reputation for being a forward thinking, dynamic and commercial law firm.

The Financial Controller position has been newly created due to the organic growththe firm have experienced over the past few years and will offer the successful applicant a position which embraces autonomy, flexibility and continued development.

The Financial Controller's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Overseeing the production of both monthly management accounts & reporting and annual financial statements.
  • Leading the annual audit process, including discussing proposed errors and adjustments with the senior finance leadership team.
  • Ensuring the all SRA Accounts ruled are adhered to and the firms cashiering function is fully compliant.
  • Ensuring the smooth running and compliance of operational finance teams including cashiering, billing & working capital.
  • Identifying and implementing robust & commercially driven processes.
  • Identifying training needs and providing day to day guidance and assistance in managing performance and development of team members.

The ideal Financial Controller will:

  • Be fully qualified with a professional accounting certificate (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Have at least 2 years prior senior finance leadership experience within a professional services organisation.
  • Have good knowledge of SRA Accounts rules and VAT rules.
  • Have a strong ability to lead a dynamic team.
  • Have excellent organisation, prioritisation and communication skills.
  • Have a hands on approach with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
