Axon Moore are partnering with a fast-moving, highly acquisitive PE backed business based in Manchester City Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and successful business embracing a period of continued growth who are looking tohire an experienced Group Tax Manager.


About the role

This new role reporting into a Group Financial Controller will have responsibility for the tax compliance and planning of the Group.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of fast moving private equity backed business based in Manchester City Centre.

This is a key role and you will be expected to demonstrate initiative and leadership skills, be a confident communicator and have experience of maintaining strong and robust tax controls and processes.

You will

possess a strong ability to ensure tax compliance and have relevant technical knowledge and experience of applicable accounting and tax standards.


Salary - up to £75k + bonus + excellent benefits

Location - Manchester / Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)


Main Duties:


  • Production of corporation tax computations for each member of the group, along with a Group consolidated view. Ensuring computations are submitted on time along with the iXBRL tagged accounts and ensuring payments are made on time.
  • Group tax planning and ensuring losses are offset in the most efficient way.
  • Implement a Group tax strategy and document and communicate our tax policies and procedures.
  • Work with external tax advisors on more complex areas of tax and ensure they are used to review certain elements of work.
  • Assist in forming a VAT group and reviewing VAT returns throughout the Group. Also responsible for ensuring the correct VAT treatment of sales and purchases in both the UK and Ireland.
  • Analysing areas of the business where we may be able to make additional tax claims and reduce our liability to HMRC. For example
  • R&D credits, super deduction and VAT on fuel.
  • Assist HR/ Payroll on employment tax issues, liaising with external advisors where required.
  • Prepare and submit CT 61 returns and ensure relevant DTTP 2 s are in place.
  • Prepare and submit ERS returns
  • Integrating the tax of current and future acquisitions into the Group and ensuring tax compliance at the local level where needed.
  • Work with the Group Financial Controller, legal advisors and tax advisors to simplify the group structure.
  • Ensuring relevant transfer pricing documentation is in place and being adhered to, especially as the Group grows internationally
  • Improving financial control around all elements of taxation and being the first point of contact for any tax queries internally and externally.
  • Assist with the year end audit
  • Keeping up to date with new tax regulation changes and performing impact assessments specific to Group.

Person Specification:


  • ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualified with strong corporate tax and accounting knowledge
  • Top 10 practice experience would be beneficial
  • Have detailed understanding of key corporate tax legislations and requirements
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with senior management.
  • Have excellent attention to detail & the ability to prioritise, multitask and commitment to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent analytics, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills.
