Integrated Commissioning Officer:


Role Purpose


Tower Hamlets is a rapidly growing, vibrant inner-city borough with a young ethnically diverse population who experience some of the highest levels of deprivation in the country.

The population experience high levels of mental and physical health problems:
lower life expectancies, high levels of heart disease, diabetes and respiratory disease.

As Tower Hamlets develops its model for integrated care, this role presents an exciting opportunity to work as part of an integrated health and social care commissioning team, working with providers and other stakeholders to drive local service improvements to deliver positive outcomes for our local residents.


The Integrated Mental Health Commissioning team is based in Tower Hamlets Town Hall, and works across the NHS and the Council to support the Tower Hamlets Together Partnership's programme priorities.

With a high profile integrated care programme in development, excellent relationships across the partnership, and very diverse and engaged local communities, this is a genuinely exciting time for health and social care commissioning in Tower Hamlets.


The Integrated Commissioning Officer post will work as part of the Integrated Mental Health Commissioning team to lead on the provider contractual monitoring processes, support a range of specific work streams and projects which will include being involved in service development and procurement, and also leading on the development and design of data and intelligence reporting to inform our work plans.


Key Responsibilities
The role of Integrated Commissioning Officer covers a broad range of functions covering all aspects of the commissioning cycle. The post holder will focus flexibly on different elements depending on service demands and requirements.

This will include, but is not limited to, supporting the Mental Health Commissioning team in:


To contribute to the integrated mental health commissioning function enabling the delivery of effective, high quality and innovative health and social care services and solutions for residents.


To monitor a portfolio of contracts and/or grants with a particular focus on monitoring outcomes and managing performance against agreed standards and support the effective management of the contract performance.


To engage with users and carers to encourage and enable service users, carers, families and advocates to participate in the monitoring of contracts.
