Description

This is a full-time 12 month fixed term post created to provide the post-holder with extensive exposure to hepatobiliary endoscopy (EUS and ERCP), whilst providing endoscopy services to the department in the face of growing local demand.

The Endoscopy Service is hosted within the Division of Surgery, but delivered by Gastroenterology Hepatology, Upper & Lower GI and Hepatobiliary Surgery clinicians.

The successful applicant will either hold accreditation in Gastroenterology, Hepatology or Surgery, or taking time out of a recognised training programme, with training programme director approval.

You will be independent in diagnostic and ideally therapeutic gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy, ideally in upper and lower endoscopy.


The post holder will work flexibly across our Endoscopy suites at South Bristol Community Hospital (SBCH), Weston General Hospital and the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).

This role will require exceptional patient care as the post holder will provide lower and upper diagnostic endoscopy procedures. Your responsibilities will include accurate reporting on procedures and ensuring rapid request of next steps when necessary.


Service Development and Research:

The successful appointee is expected to take a full role in the delivery of the Trust's wide agenda for Governance.

The post holder will:


  • Take an active part in the department's audit arrangements
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead improvement projects for the department
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings

Communication:

The post holder will be required to communicate effectively and professionally with a range of staff which will include sensitive information using a range of routes.

Communication will be required with administrative, management, nursing and clinical colleagues across a range of specialties and areas.


Training:

The post holder will have opportunity to attend lists of advanced endoscopy procedures and train in procedures such as ERCP, EUS and SpyGlass.
