The Data Transformation & Automation team is a centre of excellence for data manipulation and transformation. We are responsible for development and maintenance of a range Finance data models.

In addition to working with IT and CDO team on development ofgroup-wide data solutions, we mainly build and maintain specific data and automation solutions used across the Finance division.

The role of Senior Data Engineer is really important to us.

The role sits within the Modelling and Data Analytics sub-division in Finance and you will have significant collaboration with other areas within the team, the wider Finance organizations and groupchange function.


This role will be based in our London office however, you will be able to work a blend of both home and office each week.

You'll be made to feel part of your new team by your Line Manager, and colleagues through regular contact and virtual interaction.


What would your day look like?

  • Play a vital role in creating Finance's divisional data strategy, align with the Enterprise strategy
  • Liaising with group Chief Data Officer's organisation to adopt and leverage group wide data strategy, platforms and tools.
  • Leading role in design, build and continuously improve the Finance Data Warehouse to meet data needs from stakeholders within Finance.
  • Planning and execution of data solutions including data analysis, data visualisation and sourcing data for Finance led projects.
  • Defining, documenting and managing the flow of data within Finance organization.
  • Define a standard common business vocabulary for data, building data dictionary, and promote data awareness among Finance organisation.

What do we expect of you?

  • SQL Server Development skill (or other SQL variant) is essential. Experience with setting up databases, building Stored procedures, using SQL agent, SSIS.
  • Database administration skills. Including SQL security configuration, SQL database performance design, configuration and troubleshooting is essential (no previous DBA experience needed).
  • Proficiency in data modeling and design. Able to articulate common data warehouse structural design theories.
  • Skills in one or more of the following: Alteryx, Talend, Ab Initio or other data transformation / ETL / flow automation tools.
  • Proficiency in Python or R
  • Development skills in data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI.
  • Comfortable presenting your ideas to senior stakeholders
  • Track record of designing, building, improving data warehouse solutions.
  • Successfully delivering data flow automation, data dictionary, and data visualization projects.
  • Working within Financial Services Treasury/Risk/ALM/Analytics for a significant period of time, preferably at retail banks and building societies.
