Square Peg Associates are working with an International Manufacturing business who are looking for an experienced Manufacturing engineer to work in a hands-on role reporting to the Group Manufacturing Director.


This brand-new role will include a mixture of working on the shop floor and office, best suited to someone with experience of new product development, from reverse engineering to prototyping.

The role will involve continuous improvement initiatives, problemsolving and root cause analysis within the fast-moving production facility.


Duties include:


  • Assisting with the prototyping phase of N.P.D. development (includes 3D printing, drawing verification and material analysis).
  • Justify, scope and design manufacturing and capacity improvements, process and product introduction requirements
  • Coordinating crossfunctional team activities to optimise cost performance, operating standards and minimising waste.
  • Providing design for manufacturing input at early stages, coordinating and supporting the implementation of engineering changes to designs.
  • Supporting project management in crossfunctional activity, as well as working closely with senior management.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities by making improvements to manufacturing methods by streamlining the processes and procedures.
  • Understand and analyse technical and process problems and identify root causes.
  • You will have several years' experience working in a Manufacturing / Engineering role. (Your background may be within Engineering/Manufacturing/Automotive /FMCG)
  • Have an understanding of the scope and purpose of Key Improvements & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)
  • Understanding of the scope & purpose of Inspection & Test Plans and Quality Management Tools and Techniques
  • Understand and analyse technical and process problems and identify root causes
  • Guide operational teams to improve processes to reduce quality risks
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings and parts lists (Bills of Materials)
  • Experience working with a range of materials, including metals, plastics and composites.
  • Mechanically and commercially aware, strong troubleshooting skills and confident using Microsoft packages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, prioritise work load and cope under pressure.
