Description

You will be part of a high performing team assisting in the provision, maintenance, and development of a comprehensive Digital service.

You will be a lead technical specialist supporting system wide transformation work programmes to deliver improved outcomes for the populations we serve.


We are looking for people with a passion for all things Digital, together with drive enthusiasm and the requisite skills and experience to support our service users across Wirral, Cheshire East, St Helens and Knowsley.


You will need to be an experienced individual who has had a significant degree of exposure to Microsoft Server environments, backup and storage technologies, desktop hardware and software environments, including but not limited to Active Directory, Windows 10 and N365.

Experience of supporting and migrating to cloud platforms would be advantageous but not essential.

The role will provide technical support to the ICT Operations Manager for the provision of a resilient, reliable, and effective day to day technology service and ensure that all Trust colleagues are able to rely upon their technology enablers.

This will involve ensuring all aspects of the IT Architecture and Infrastructure are documented, understood, and maintained.

Through knowledge and experience, this technical role will provide specialist advice and guidance to the department and users.


Ensure that all IT server, and communications systems are operating at optimum efficiency to maximise availability and reliability across the organisation.

Provide ongoing support and development of any IT server, network, and communications systems to ensure its reliability and availability.


Assist with the development and implementation of the ICT Digital Strategy for Wirral Community Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust.


To provide IT third line support and technical management for all aspects of the Trust's server, infrastructure, and related technologies.

To assist with the management of server performance through monitoring and maintenance work.


To work closely with other members of the team, and the ICT Services Enhancement Manager to support planned changes or outages to ensure they do not have a detrimental effect on system performance and availability.

To effectively communicate with others to identify issues or concerns with systems and provide resolutions. This may be in conjunction with third party suppliers.


To work as part of a team to ensure the effective performance of the hardware (network and servers) utilised to support the ICT systems used at Wirral Community Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust.

About you

  • Educated to technical degree standard or equivalent relevant experience
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Associate (MTA), or equivalent demonstrable experience (Postgrad Cert Level)
  • Advanced knowledge / developed experience for diagnosing faulty equipment and be able to use specialised diagnostic software together with the ability to solve/repair complex issues
  • Proven experience of server management and troubleshooting
  • You will be comfortable working under your own initiative and manage your own workload
  • Have excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach to work.
  • Must be skilled communicator to converse with all levels and grades of staff with the ability to communicate complex IT issues to nonIT staff
  • Ability to travel between sites across the WCHT region on a regular basis.
