Macildowie are working with an established retailer who are looking to recruit an experienced Merchandiser/Global Planner.


The Global Planner position will be responsible for driving profitable sales through management of sales & inventory, reporting to the Global Sales Director.

S/He is responsible for partnering with both the Sales Teams and Merchandising and Planning teamto effectively forecast inventory needs by brand and item and accelerate the growth of the business while maintaining inventory efficiency and financial targets.


The Global Planner will be:

  • A seasoned planner who communicates with honesty and kindness and creates the space for others to do the same.
  • Someone who understands the importance of listening to our customers and to the team.
  • Businessminded, consumercentric, and have a strong strategic mindset.
  • Someone who has worked with business financials, and has demonstrated experience in helping brands grow.
  • A strong communicator who enjoys crafting/ optimising business models, testing hypotheses, storytelling, and influencing other team members. This person can speak confidently and clearly with Senior Leaders.
  • Most importantly, this person can turn insights into ACTION

The role:

  • Provide planning support to the wholesale sales team. Drive top line growth and develop and execute sound financial plans for maximum profitability.
  • Build, review, and collaborate closely with the markets to create sales forecasts that support the global strategy by fiscal year and season
  • Reforecast and/or create "What If" scenarios to support changes in business strategies. Present financial components (sales, margin, and inventory) to key stakeholders in order to determine the financial impact with respect to strategy changes.
  • Proactively manage the calendar of business from preseason to in season management

Skills required:

  • 5+ years' experience, in Planning in the fashion industry
  • Must have excellent excel skills
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Hypothesis building and testing, thought leadership and strategic thinking
  • Strong ownership and organisational skills with focus on results/ timelines
  • Experience supporting and working with crossfunctional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovates to achieve great results
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn
  • Ability to build trusted relationships
  • The ability to sift through data to create an approach that is focused on the highest value
