JOB & COMPANY INTRODUCTION
We are a rapidly expanding, London-based SME delivering mechanical and electrical services for both the public and private sectors.

We provide a variety of services from one-off installations and servicing to capital investment schemes and planned preventativemaintenance programs with an emergency call-out service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.


The Electrical QS supervises the company's electrical contracts in terms of operations and quality, ensuring our obligations workstream is being carried out to the correct standard and regulations as dictated by the NICEIC.


The role requires a good knowledge of building maintenance services/engineering associated with electricity, commercial repairs, and installation works, as well as experience within social housing contracts and the construction or building services industry.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with managing the daytoday requirements of the electrical team.
  • Ensure all electrical works are being carried out in compliance with NICEIC requirements.
  • Manage and ensure NICEIC Certification is accurate and comprehensive, in line with NICEIC requirements, including certification from subcontractors.
  • Arrange and conduct all NICEIC compliance visits.
  • Oversee completion of Part P notifications as required.
  • Conduct monthly engineer team meetings to reinforce safe practices, and company conduct, and discuss/assess engineers' obstacles/needs.
  • Oversee that engineers' daily diaries are being assigned and updated effectively.
  • Assist engineers, subcontractors, and the compliance team with technical advice.
  • Manage a quality control, post inspection schedule, carrying out necessary audit samples of electrical works carried out by GEM engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Create postinspection quality reports, to document the quality of works being delivered, and log quality reports, including recommended improvements, to Electrical Manager.
  • Analyse performance statistics, examine completion reports, and investigate failures to reduce nonconformities and increase our customer satisfaction and 1st time fix measurements.
  • Handle stage 1 complaints as per company procedure and maintain records for performance monitoring.
  • Assist the Electrical Manager with the business management systems (BMS) program including outstanding issues.
  • Assist the Electrical Manager in supervising and coordinating the Fire Alarms, BMS, and Gas Detection PPM programs, including outstanding issues.
  • Assist the planners and team with logístical issues relating to electrical works.
  • Produce costs and quotes where required_,_ using the company's IT system, and following contractual procedures and requirements.
  • Multiple visit jobs are to be thoroughly examined, and investigations carried out to analyze issues and offer reports on the findings.
  • Attend to the site where required to offer support, and report back to management and the team.
  • Follow the framework of performance management and monitoring, championing best practices and a highlevel performance culture throughout the Company.
  • Actively promote a positive safety culture; monitor and control safety performance to ensure all Company and customer safety rules and procedures are applied by staff and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with both internal and external contacts in a friendly and helpful manner to uphold and strengthen the values of Environmental Building Services.
  • To undertake any other duties as required by the Company from time to time, full training and appropriate supervision will be provided if these duties are of a greater level of responsibility or skill than those required in the post.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum full apprenticeship and/or craft qualifications: C&G 2360/2330/2365 and/or NVQ Level 3 qualification in electrical installation discipline (or equivalent)

  • C&G 2391 or 2394/2395 in Inspection and Testing
  • ESSENTIAL
  • Qualified in BS7671, 18th Edition in Wiring Regulations
  • ESSENTIAL
  • Previous experience as an NICEIC QS
  • ADVANTAGEOUS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge

  • Electrical knowledge (best practice) associated with PPM, repairs, and installation works.
  • Construction, building services.
  • Full working knowledge of electrical safety.
  • BMS/controls knowledge and experience would be preferable.
  • Gas Detection Installation/Commissioning would be an advantage. Fire Alarm Installation/Servicing would be an advantage

Skills:


  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds.
  • Possess a thorough, organized, and detailoriented approach to work.
  • Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, multitask, and complete work assignments within deadlines.
  • Effectively supervise a team of engineers and others who work within contracts.
  • Act in a professional manner when representing the company at meetings (internal and external) and confidently convey expectations and needs.

Experience

  • Demonstratable experience as an Electrical Supervisor in a similar role would be ideal Experience in supervising contracts in a building services environment (minimum 5 years).
  • Experience in performancemanaging a team of electricians.
  • Experience in conforming to the NICEIC accreditation and standard of work.
  • Experience in electrical installation in a Commercial/Industrial field

SPECIAL FACTORS

  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must have a full UK driving license.
  • Be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check as per GEM's terms of employment.
  • Be flexible in their work approach to working hours. May be asked to work outside of normal working hours, as and when required for GEM to meet its commitments to its contracts.
  • There may be participation in an "out of hours" callout rota.
