The team

  • Business Energy Scotland is one of the key advice and support services at Energy Saving Trust and is funded by the Scottish Government to provide free and impartial support to help small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) save energy, carbon, and money.

As Scottish businesses try to overcome the twin challenges of record energy prices and playing their part in reducing carbon emissions, our work is more important than ever.

We train, coach, challenge and guide our people within a welcoming and supportiveteam, and pride ourselves on pulling together to deliver excellent service for our customers.

You will be encouraged to share ideas and drive innovation within a team that values collaboration and individual input, and we draw on the experience and diverseskills of our team members to deliver impactful support for Scottish SMEs in response to the climate emergency.


The role

  • You will work closely with SMEs to help identify energy saving opportunities that deliver carbon and cost savings. You will provide support to help SMEs to overcome barriers to the installation of low carbon technologies (e.g. heat pumps and heat pump enablingmeasures such a building fabric insulation).
  • You will also provide advice and support on a wider range of technologies to SMEs, helping business to save energy and reduce the cost of their energy bills. This will be done through 121conversations, in person events, online webinar training and desktop reviews of technical specifications.
  • You will be a central part of helping the service deliver effective, highquality advice and support to enable the installation energy efficiency, low carbon heat and renewables projects, making SMEs more competitive and helping them on their journey towardsNet Zero.

What you'll do

  • Actively engage with SMEs to understand their specific energy related opportunities and challenges to establish the most appropriate level of support.
  • Liaise with SMEs and contracted energy consultants to secure necessary technical information to enable an energy efficiency assessment to be completed.
  • Help the SME with any queries they may have on their bespoke energy assessment report and the recommended measures it contains.
  • Identify any barriers to the installation of measures and help to resolve these, including enabling access to the Scottish Government SME loan scheme.

What you'll bring

  • Demonstrable experience of energy efficiency, lowcarbon heating, and renewable technologies in buildings.
  • Proven experience of delivering a highstandard of customer service ability to explain complex information in a straightforward accessible way.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both facetoface and on the phone.
  • A willingness to learn about, engage with and support our efforts. to become a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable organisation.
This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.


We are open to flexible working patterns and locations (within the UK) and as standard we offer all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working.
