Lleading independent OHLE provider with both a Principle Contractors Licence and a Plant Operators Licence. The business provides turnkey OHLE capabilities from design through installation and commissioning to final testing. The Company operates both with the main line heavy rail factor and the mass transit factor

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and governance to the Commercial function of the Scotland Region.
  • Liaise with key clients and stakeholders to lead across all commercial operations within the Scotland Region.
  • Drive and maximise the profitability of the Region, capitalising on opportunities.
  • Play a pivotal role in the strategic commercial direction of the Region in order to optimise commercial performance.
  • Demonstrate and promote collaborative behaviour with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and manage effective, strategic relationships (internal and external) to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Ensure the adherence to commercial process for identifying, managing and mitigating risk to the Regional business.
  • Play a key part within the business wide commercial function to drive continuous improvement across functional performance.
  • Strategically lead the commercial and programme requirements of any major work winning event across the Scotland Region.
  • Agree final accounts with clients
  • Manage the proactive and accurate volume planning reporting for the Scotland Region (sales, orders, profit etc.)
  • Proactively support the procurement and supply chain department in managing the supply chain to deliver Regional requirements.
  • Effective resolution of complex disputes across the Region.
  • Manage and develop a proactive, industry leading commercial team, allocating the appropriate level of skilled commercial resource to meet business needs.

  • Senior experience within the commercial industry/sector.
  • A solid understanding of contract document preparation, contract management processes and procedures
  • Experience of assisting in the handling of claims and disputes
  • A working knowledge of procurement techniques and contract forms.
  • An understanding of commercial and financial reporting within a project, programme and business portfolio environment
  • Ability to travel to different locations as and when required.
  • Ability to provide strategic contract and commercial advice to Director level.
  • Great negotiation and influencing skills
  • Individual capable of managing a portfolio of projects with mínimal supervision.
  • Previous role within a commercial department in a senior managerial role.
  • A good understanding of construction contracts (ICC/NEC, Target Cost etc.), Bills of Quantities and their respective preparation
  • A good understanding of works measurement and valuation including the cost and value reconciliation of contractor and/or subcontractor accounts
  • Ideally Degree qualified with BSc Quantity Surveying
  • Rail experience is desirable but not essential
