We have an exciting International Freight Forwarding apprenticeship position working in the customs advisory and training sector.

The role will include handling enquiries, raising quotes & being trained to draft guidance for issue to our client base who include manufacturers, importers, exporters & freight companies.


Annual wage
£13,500
Increase to £16,000.00 after a successful 6 month probation period


Working week
Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm (1-day a week to be dedicated to apprenticeship)
Total hours per week: 37.5 hours a week

Key Responsibilities:


  • Use company systems to create, manage and maintain the movement of freight
  • Ensure all customer enquiries are responded to
  • Adhere to customs compliance procedures and documentation
  • Work with carriers and handling agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies
  • Work with DGF departments on air freight planning and coordination
  • Update the company's customer complaints system with all required inputs
  • Develop relationships with customers and colleagues

Qualifications
GCSE or equivalent 5 GCSE's including maths (Grade A*-C/9-4) essential GCSE or equivalent English Language (Grade 5) essential

What training will you do and what qualification will you get at the end?

  • Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Specialist apprenticeship standard
  • Road Pathway.
  • Onthejob training delivered by the employer.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualifications are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.

  • Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop
  • Identify, track and support 20% off the job training activities
  • Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This role could lead to a number of well-paid future roles, including becoming a customs broker or a consultant/trainer in this field.


Things to consider
This role will be supported by a number of colleagues who will often be working on site with clients. Therefore, use of initiative and ability to use time towards unsupported tasks during this time is essential
