Description

The Health Care Assistant (HCA) will work as part of the paediatric department team in the Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre (RDCEC) under the supervision of registered nurses and will participate Venepuncture skills and the delivery of family centred care, contribute to paediatric organisation.


Provide support to the nursing staff in the delivery of care within the limits of the HCA's knowledge and competence.

You will need to be flexible, practical and reliable with the ability to take responsibility for assigned tasks.

The ability to work calmly in a changing environment is desirable.

Participate in the delivery of patient centred care, maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude at all times.

Contribute to the ward/department organization, and perform tasks allocated by Senior nurse within their remit.

Support Registered Nurses in the provision of a caring and safe environment.


Function at a competency level in line with the requirements of the post and achieve and maintain both mandatory and statutory training requirements associated with the role.

To undertake Phlebotomy tasks in children and young people.

To participate in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse

To contribute towards clinical patient care organization.

To give support to ophthalmic nurses in the provision of a safe and caring environment to the patients

PROBATIONARY PERIOD


During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed.

The probationary period may be extended

Or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy.

For the duration of the probation period, the notice period will be in line with contractual obligations on either side.
