Job Description:


About the Role


Buyers play a critical role at ASOS, working closely with Merchandising to build a commercial and trend-led product range that is loved by the 20-something customer.

They are collaborative, organised, and strategic with their finger on the pulse of the latest trends - always looking to push the range forward.

In partnership with Merchandising, Buyers are responsible for the delivery of sales and profit targets through a cohesive product strategy.


The F+B Buying team is responsible for curating the most relevant edit of Beauty brands for the 20-something consumer, covering big commercial brands through to new and emerging, to offer the customer the most exciting trends and create a point of difference in the global market.


What You'll be Doing

  • Curating a cohesive and relevant brand portfolio for the department, ensuring that the product reflects the Brand and Divisional strategy.
  • Working closely with the onboarding team and legal to deliver new relevant brands for the 20 something customer in a timely manner, understanding the nuances of the Face + Body category.
  • Effectively range building, considering the Option and ALB Strategy, with the flexibility to pivot quickly to potentialize or derisk.
  • Building and leveraging relationships with brands, working closely to build joint business plans and ensure ASOS is prioritised.
  • Working closely with Marketing to identify relevant marketing opportunities for Face + Body and ensure clear and consistent messaging, that closely aligns with fashion.
  • Collaborating regularly with ASOS Media Group to elevate F+B brands and their awareness across ASOS.
  • Anticipating the needs of the 20something customer, using sales and trend data to deliver commercial product ranges that account for global factors.
  • Delivering department KPIs to drive margin and profit, identifying and addressing any risks, in partnership with Merchandising.
  • Trading effectively by identifying gaps in ranges and potentializing opportunities that will have the biggest impact on department performance, whilst effectively managing risk
  • Maintaining indepth knowledge of planning and trading documents, using them to shape category analysis and evolution of the buy.
  • Working closely with Merchandising to build cohesive lessons learnt and develop the department strategy.
  • Actively contributing to crossfunctional projects, welcoming change, and ensuring Face + Body is considered within wider business initiatives.
  • Regularly scoping opportunities to increase customer awareness of Face + Body on ASOS.
  • Leading and building a strong team of ABs and BAs, with a focus on growing future talent.
  • Providing clear direction and development to the team, identifying individual training needs, and encouraging collaborative ways of working.
  • Motivating and engaging the team through recognition and regular feedback.

  • Has significant experience operating as a Beauty Buyer within a fastpaced and rapidly changing retailer.
  • Has proven ability to drive the success of a department through creative and commercial thinking.
  • Has a strong awareness of current trends and understands the Beauty market and competitor landscape.
  • Has a developed network across the Beauty industry and is able to build relationships easily with suppliers and brands.
  • Builds great relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Has highly developed negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to gain buy in from management and the wider team to potentialize opportunities.
  • Demonstrates a commercial mindset, using data and insights to leverage opportunities that successfully contribute to the department.
  • Has a good understanding of different marketing levers that are relevant for Face + Body and how these can be used effectively.
  • Has indepth knowledge of planning and trading documents, with the ability to challenge figures and plans, where necessary.
  • Shows strong awareness of current trends, Retail market conditions and opportunities within a Global context, including global competitors' product offer, pricing strategy and trading activity.
