Fire Safety & Security Officer, band 6.

Salary £35,392 to £42,618 per annum.

The primary role is to undertake the duties of the Fire Safety and Security Officer across the Trust.

You will act as the Trust's competent person in fire related issues in accordance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Fire Safety Act 2021, The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and the NHS Firecode standards - Technical Technical Memorandum HTM 05-01, HTM 05-02 and HTM 05-03.

To act as the principal point of contact for all Fire Safety and Security Management related activities.


To inform the Associate Director of Estates & Capital of any non-compliance of fire safety requirements along the possible solutions.

To attend and support the Fire Safety Group.


To represent the Trust on fire safety matters with enforcing authorities, architects, design engineers and other outside agencies and to build good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

To assist Care Group Leads, Matrons and Service Leads to manage fire safety within their services areas.

The Trust employs approximately 1800 staff in the North Staffordshire area from a property portfolio of 30+ buildings.

The Estates Team is part of the Corporate Directorate and supports all Directories within the Trust. The Estates Team consists of approximately 25 staff and is a reactive service with frontline staff. The Facilities Team are much wider and work in conjunction with the Estates Teams.

To provide support, advice and guidance on Fire Safety and Security Management to staff at all levels within the organisation.

To audit and monitor Fire Safety and Security Management standards and performance within the Trust.


To assist and support the Trusts Divisions and Directorates in meeting their Fire Safety and Security Management obligations and responsibilities are laid down in legislation and the Trusts policies and procedures.


To facilitate the development and implementation of Fire Safety and Security Management projects at a strategic and operational level as agreed and directed by the Associate Director of Estates & Capital.


To participate in relevant groups providing specialists Fire Safety and Security Management input including Commissioning/Project Design Groups, Directorate Health and Safety/Risk Management Groups and Specialist Project Groups.
