We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated teaching assistant to join our team of dedicated and hard-working staff.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with children and wants to ensure they learn, progress and reach their potential.

St Bartholomew's is located in the small town of Great Harwood, in East Lancashire and is 5 minutes from the M65 and approximately 20 minutes from most major towns in the area.

If appointed, you will be part of a team of teaching assistants and teachers who share a commitment to providing the best possible education within a Christian setting, to all of the students at St Bartholomew's.

The job is extremely rewarding as you know you are making a difference to the lives of the children you are working with.

As well as being part of a wonderful staff team, we also have a supportive parent community, and we enjoy good links with the local community and the Parish of St Bartholomew's.

Most importantly, we are a school with pupils who thoroughly enjoy coming to school and working hard which makes our work more rewarding.


We are looking for someone who will:

  • Promote positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Have high expectations for pupil learning, behaviour and attainment.
  • Have a creative and practical approach to learning.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the primary curriculum with excellent Numeracy and Literacy skills with experience of working across the school.
  • Have experience of working with a range of Special Educational and behavioural needs.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and to a high standard both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to assist in the assessment, monitoring and recording of pupil progress and developmental needs.
  • Support learning in the classroom.
  • Wants to continually develop their skills and knowledge.

This position is part time, term time only to a maximum of 28.75 hours per week. Please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis.

Essential Qualifications

  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • TA qualification NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications

  • First Aid qualification

in different year groups

  • Experience of working with children
with SEND
