All About the Role


Based at our Barrett Engineering Steel, Dudley site, the purpose of this role is to lead a shift within the warehouse, driving process whilst ensuring all health and safety standards are adhered to and your team are well trained and engaged.

The shift hours are weekly rotating Monday to Friday 6 am to 2pm then Monday to Friday 2 pm to 10pm.


Specific tasks may include:

Promote a safe environment and culture throughout the workforce, promoting a culture where safety always comes first, while ensuring all activities comply with Barrett Steel Health & Safety policies

  • Achieve a high level of customer service and satisfaction, promoting the Barrett Steel Quality policy and local Operating Procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the warehouse
  • Motivate, train, and develop the shift, managing its performance, to maintain an effective team capable of meeting its current and projected objectives.
  • Ensure accuracy throughout the key areas of the warehouse structure
  • Working with the team under the direction of the Manager to develop and implement operational solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost.
  • Coordinate shift activities efficiently and effectively

Essential Skills for the role:


  • Be able to demonstrate success gained in leading/supervising a team & evidence of driving change.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of H&S. (Ideally IOSH trained but not essential)
  • Ideally understand or be trained in lean manufacturing techniques and in managing and developing effective team working.
  • Experience in the steel industry or similar environment
  • Excellent communication, planning & organisational skills.
