This is an exciting time to be joining North Somerset


Delivery of the Bus Service Improvement Plan in North Somerset will revolutionise public transport, making it a viable alternative to travel by private vehicle for many of our residents.

The programme prioritises infrastructure improvements and service investment over the next two years.

It includes new bus shelters, bus interchanges for our key towns, an improved passenger experience, improved fares and ticketing, better branding and information, shorter journey times, more reliable services and measures to help people access public transport at the beginning and end of their journeys.


Join our Team
We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Principal Transport Planning Officer to work in our Public Transport team.


This will be a fast paced and exciting time to work for us - our joint West of England Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) received the second largest funding settlement nationally.

We are working in partnership with the West of England Combined Authority as part of a joint delivery unit approach.


The projects and initiatives for the team range across DRT trials, delivery of new responsibilities under the BSIP and Enhanced Partnership and our new Passenger Charter, fares packages delivery and assessment and service enhancements negotiation and procurement.


You will have a key role in an expanding team to deliver the work packages in our Bus Service Improvement Plan to significantly increase bus patronage, helping to decarbonise transport in the district.


Your work will also ensure we deliver the business-as-usual functions for public transport in North Somerset including delivering and monitoring supported services, network planning, operator liaison, roadside information, community transport contracts and concessionary fares.
