We are looking for an Audience Journalist to join the team at Scotland's no 1 news brand and multi-award winning website to oversee the day to day running of the website, source exclusive stories, deliver the latest breaking news to our audience and drive traffic to the site.

Your Role:

Working as part of the digital team, you will be responsible for the development and execution of The Scottish Sun's social media strategy, using various tools and skills to make recommendations to maximise search traffic and audience engagement.


Day to day you will:


  • Play a key role in the ongoing development and execution of The Scottish Sun's social media strategy
  • Assist with best practice for SEO, including using Google Trends to make recommendations on key search terms and relevant keywords to maximise search traffic
  • Use Search Console effectively to target Google Discover traffic and look for/ track potential themes that the newsroom can pursue
  • Curate content from across Scottish Sun Online to satisfy a diverse range of audience demographics.
  • Edit and maintain The Scottish Sun's social media channels to a high standard in close conjunction with the rest of the team.
  • Contribute to The Scottish Sun's adoption of emerging social platforms and tools, and take responsibility for the growth of The Scottish Sun's new social channels.
  • Work directly with editorial, digital, video, picture, design, radio, commercial, marketing, social and audience teams across the business, ensuring their respective demands are met.
  • As a team, ensure the newsroom has sufficient insight to produce Internetfriendly stories, and take responsibility for their subsequent distribution on social media channels.
  • Actively source stories from social media that are likely to perform well across all Scottish Sun platforms with a focus on our own social channels
  • Focus on targets and be clear on what is required in order to meet them
  • Work flexibly across a sevenday rota.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Experience working as part of a fast paced newsroom ideally with experience in a digital publishing environment
  • Experience of implementing best SEO practice
  • An understanding of the The Scottish Sun brand across print, digital and social media channels
  • Experience using Wordpress and analytic tools including , Google Analytics, Search Console, Facebook, Twitter Analytics and Insights and Google Trends
  • Demonstrable experience to deliver consistently high standards under pressure in a deadlinedriven environment
  • Passion about all things journalism, social media, current affairs and sport
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to take on any task
  • A team player and a problemsolver who can overcome obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
