The Information Governance Team are looking for a motivated and experienced Compliance Officer.


To work as part of the wider team to ensure the annual completion of the Data Security and Protection (DSP) Toolkit for the CSU and our customers.

Including but not limited to, the collection of evidence, supporting the delivery of training, spot checks and monitoring compliance statistics.

  • To provide complex legislative advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of law which affect how information is handled. The post holder will need to be able to advise in detail on matters affected by UK Data Protection Laws.
  • To provide advice and guidance on the practical implementation of Information Governance. This includes supporting the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures, including informing staff of their responsibilities.
  • To provide remote information governance support to primary care services including Data Security and Protection Toolkit and incident management support.
  • To implement and ensure the delivery of the annual work programme for the CSU and our customers, ensuring that progress is monitored, and regular updates are provided to the Information Governance Business Partners to ensure plans remain on track. Any issues should be escalated at the earliest opportunity via the IG Hub Manager and quarterly performance meetings with the Head of Service.

  • Support the development of template documents to ensure compliance of the DSP Toolkit submissions as well as the production of an annual improvement plan to ensure continued toolkit compliance and year on year improvement, reflecting local needs.
  • To ensure the ongoing production of evidence in support of the DSP toolkit submission for the CSU and our customers, reporting regularly on progress and escalating as required to the Information Governance Hub Manager if progress does not remain on target.
  • Responsible for the production of bimonthly reports identifying the organisations progress against the DSP Toolkit, any risks to compliance, statistical progress against the Training requirements and identification of areas for improvement, within agreed timescales ensuring that key performance indicators are consistently achieved.
  • Responsible for ensuring that any papers, including relevant cover sheets, are prepared and submitted in a timely manner for any meetings at which the IG service will be represented or discussed.
  • Responsible for progress against the toolkit ensuring the following actions are carried out within agreed timeframes and associated key performance indicators are achieved:
  • Upload of evidence
  • Target setting against each requirement
  • Completion of comments and actions against all requirements
  • Monitoring the completion of actions
  • Application for requirements which are exempt
  • To undertake an annual review of each customers organisations Information Governance Policies and Procedures, in line with the Toolkit requirements and changes in legislation or national best practice within the year to ensure that they remain relevant and fit for purpose whilst reflecting local requirements including strengthening procedures where data breaches have occurred.
  • To provide specialist advice and guidance to the organisation on compliance with Freedom of Information legislation.
  • To manage the weekly and monthly FOI reporting for CSU customers, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and timeliness for the preparation
