What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the Submarines Senior Aerodrome Fire Officer (SAFO) in the delivery of effective aerodrome rescue and fighting fire services (RFFS)
  • Undertaking daily functionality checks of equipment and assets to ensure optimal readiness
  • Performing a range of aviation fuel activities, such as testing and sampling for quality assurance, fuelling aircraft and operating the fuel tanker
  • Performing ground handling tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the flying schedule, such as; aircraft marshalling, towing of aircraft, startup procedures etc
  • Conducting checks on and around the aerodrome to ensure safety standards are met and all equipment is in working order
  • Completing wildlife management tasks to prevent flight operation interference

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Knowledge & experience of airfield ground operations
  • Experience within Aviation and understanding of Aviation processes
  • Basic knowledge of aerodrome RFFS requirements as per CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulations (CAP168)
  • LGV Licence (class C)

Desirable:

  • ADR Licence
  • Radio Operators Certificate of Competency (ROCC)
  • RFFS Training
  • First Aid at work

The RFFS team:


As a part of the Aerodrome Fire/Ground Crew Team you will be Supporting the Submarines Senior Aerodrome Fire Officer (SAFO) in the delivery of effective aerodrome rescue and fighting fire services (RFFS) to maintain the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft, in line with aerodrome licensing requirements.

You will maintain currency and skills as an airfield fire fighter, undertaking daily functionality checks of equipment and assets to ensure optimal readiness, and maintain efficiency and performance of the Airfield.
