Opus Education are currently working with a Multi Academy Trust, who are looking to appoint several Teaching Assistants to join their ever growing team.


This role will be on a temp to perm basis - meaning, providing you are successful, you will be through the agency for a period of time before moving on to a permanent contract.


The school is based in Warmley, where the school provides learning and supportive environment activities to 25 children and young people from Key Stage 2-4 with Social, Emotional, Behavioural, Mental Health difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Conditions.


This will involve working with small groups of children who need extra support, one to one mentoring and supporting the class teacher with preparing for and managing behaviour in lessons.

A passion for supporting children who face challenges in education

Experience within mainstream schools or Experience / knowledge of traditional SEN - ADHD, ASC, ASD, MLD, PMLD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Dyslexia, 1:1 work

Previous experience within the care sector is also welcomed.

Have a caring, patient, and empathetic personality who is confident in dealing with challenging behaviour (SEN roles)


Main Purpose of the job:


  • Assisting on all aspects of the school week, but particular those activities with physical elements; these include, sport and PE, swimming, gym sessions, bowling, and outdoor and park based play;
  • Creating and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of student's work;
  • Working with students, both inside and outside the classroom in small groups or 1:1 sessions.

Applicants holding a qualification in Childcare are welcome as are SEN Teaching Assistants with experience in school settings. Relevant experience working in a care setting is also acceptable.
