UK Defence Academy

Shrivenham, SN6 8LA

Part Time, Permanent (25 hours per week)

£22,145 pro rata plus benefits (£14,962 per annum)


Serco have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join our team based at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Swindon.

The Learning, Development and Assurance (LD&A) Lead Administrator is responsible to the Support and Development Faculty Team Leader for the administrative support within the Training Management team at the Defence Academy of the UK.

The LD&A role is sits within the Support Services Department and provides imbedded support to our military and civil service customers at the Defence Academy in the J7 Training area.


Serco at the Defence Academy provides Facilities Management across all aspects of the site including Estates, Logistics, various Supporting Services, together with Cleaning, Catering and Waste Management through ESS.

Duties for the role:


  • Creating and maintenance of team shared file structures, calendars, and planners.
  • Support direct to OF5 heads of J7 (training) Operations and Plans functions.
  • Support to the coordination of meetings.
  • Assist with new staff inductions.
  • Maintenance of J7 team shared file structures.
  • Support J7 information portals such as the new CI portal.
  • Support to the collation of data reports and statistics as required.
  • Administration support to courses conducting by LD&A.
  • Support to international students.
  • Accommodation booking, site access, environment set up and event correspondence.
  • Event drawdown, collection/collation of feedback and evaluation, exercise correspondence.
  • Administrative support to the training teams whilst travelling overseas or conducting courses overseas.

What you need to do the job:

  • Good level of general education, with GCSE's (A-C0 or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods (spoken, written, behaviour).
  • Must be methodical, have proven organisational skills and able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work to exacting standards.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records using computerbased systems.
  • You will have to gain enhanced clearance within the first 3 months of employment. Serco will arrange this on your behalf.


The Defence Academy sits within a beautiful and secure site which hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland.

The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.
